HARUM-SCARUM "mental health" LP...$8... This is Harum-Scarum's first LP, when they still had Erin singing which gave the songs a terror-stricken possessed sort of feel. It's her harsh deep growly voice that distinguishes this record from the second, but the music itself is what it continued to be on the second record... melodic fast to mid-tempo punk influenced by early 80s UK peace punk with each member contributing vocally. (TRIBAL WAR RECORDS)

HARUM-SCARUM "suppose we try" LP... $8 .....the newest album, self released. A bit different sound on this second LP. Suppose We Try picks up where HS left off. With the loss of the lead singer, they pick up quite a melodic, and harmonizing vocal styling that enhances this LP. HEX RECORDS

Looking to the early LA scene for inspiration, Regulations have the raw energy of hardcore with the catchy and memorable songwriting of early punk. Their two 7"s have become cult classics with collectors. This LP delivers a non stop barrage of sing a long, fist pumping early 80's style punk rippers. REFUSENIKS "Nineteen To A Dozen" LP $9 - "Melodic and intricate hardcore punk from Boston, MA in the vein of Husker Du. "The Refuseniks are a Boston band that have been playing around for about a year, made up of all the members of Glory Fades (who you probably didn’t hear of) except for the vocalist. Anyway, there’s a strong Born Against and Vermin Scum records influence. Fast and kinetic but there’s also a disarming sense of melody, although Ross’ howling vocals are hardly soothing—the tunefulness comes from Eric Yu’s slash/sting guitar chords. Closing song “Hangover” is a change of pace—a lumbering, heavy track that conveys the feeling of its title. A lot of energy and not sounding like every other hardcore band." - Al Quint / Suburban Voice" (ONE LEAF/ US)

RELIGIOUS WAR "cracked system" LP...$9 Blistering release by these Portland veterans of good d-beat punk. These guys really know how to write a good punk song. Solid stuff with a demented edge that pushes the recording over the top. This record smokes. (MIND CONTROL/ HARDCORE HOLOCAUST/ USA)

REMAINS OF THE DAY "hanging on rebellion" LP/ CD $8 the last output of Portlands finest. They weave melody throughout a modern hardcore sound that is epic in contrast to the 1ST LP with songs being longer with more complex structures . Remains of the day helped in defining a the “modern Portland transplant” style of heavy gloomy hardcore. Fans of Tragedy, From Ashes Rise, or Diallo take notice. (YELLOW DOG/ GER)

Restarts - System Error LP ...$9..."The Restarts are a long running London punk band with several 7s and an LP already to their credit. This LP sees them taking a hard hitting melodic approach with 12 catchy punk anthems. The Restarts sound is akin to traditional UK punk favorites like early Anti Pasti or a rougher version of the Ruts. The songs are hard hitting yet melodic and catchy with a lot of sing a long choruses. The Restarts lyrics approach a number of social, political and personal topics. Most notable is the approach to technology as a means of social control..." (HAVOC /USA)

RIISTETYT “skitsofrenia” 12” LP…$14 The original was released in 1983 by Propaganda records and was limited to 180 copies. This was the 5th release from Riistetyt, one of the most important and influential Finnish hardcore bands of all time. This re-issue has been brought to us by (HOHNIE RECORDS/ GERMANY)

RIPCORD - DISCOGRAPHY PART 1 THE DAMAGE IS DONE/DEFIANCE OF POWER LP ... $9 ... "This material has been out of print on vinyl for nearly 15 years. This is the shit, though it is nothing more than just a raw thrash attack. It contains all the tracks from their selfproduced flexi and their first album on Manic Ears RIPCORD definded the english hardcore between 1984 and 1988. Along with HERESY, the STUPIDS, DOOM and EXTREME NOISE TERROR, they were one of the best bands that England had to offer at that time when Cal had gotten his balls sewed on again and the technicolor punks from Kings Road became extinct. RIPCORD, though from Weston-Super-Mare would have loved being a D.C. (TEEN IDOLS / G.I.) or Boston band (S.S.D. / D.Y.S.), but they were one of these bands that could easily outrival their paragons. Their greatest recording event was the John Peel Session (featured on the "More Songs" CD resp. later on the Discography Pt. 3 LP). The entire Ripcord catalog will be re-released on 3 vinyl Lps in cooperation with EPISTROPHY in 2002/2003. Steve Hazzard and John later joined SPITE, John and Jim formed DUMBSTRUCK".description by KLEISTER SKULD (SKULD RELEASES/GERMANY)

TEAR IT UP "Taking You Down WIth Me" LP $9...Since forming out of the ashes of Dead Nation in 2000, Tear It Up has become a mainstay of the American DIY hardcore scene. Taking You Down With Me was recorded several months ago, but both Tear It Up and Rites tour schedules interfered with the final release of this record. USA IS A MONSTER s/t LP...$7... Don't know how we ended up with these. Wierd, eclectic protest experimental music.

VITAMIN X - Bad Trip LP ...$9----"Titanic Third LP from Amsterdam Hollands Vitamin X. This is their strongest material since the People That Bleed 7. Rampaging fast hardcore in the style of Lifes Halt, DS 13, Tear It up and No Justice. The blazing speed and power are broken here and there by charged up heavy riffs that show guitarist Marcs longstanding inspiration from 70s hard rock. While there are a lot of bands mixing 70s rock and hardcore right now Vitamin X does so in a fashion that doesnt tone down or slow down their high energy hardcore attack. The burly rock riffs merely add to the tension and power of the thrash onslaught to come. Vitamin X will support this new release with an unprecedented third US tour." (HAVOC /USA)

WAKE UP ON FIRE self-titled LP/ CD... $9 Cello-incrusted Baltimore doom punk with multiple drummers. Debut release recorded down south at the Jam Room (DAMAD, IN/HUMANITY, DEATHREAT) Features cover art by Jeremy Clark (Slug & Lettuce). Depressingly heavy post-crust angst by this Maryland unit. NEUROSIS is an obvious starting point here with heavy tribal drumming/percussion and molasses-like rhythms, not to mention a cello, though occasionally we‚ll get a burst of crusty speed. Lyrics dwell on poetic politics, transferred onto wax with either black metal-esque high toned evil screams or death metal growls. (Short, Fast + Loud issue #12) (TORTURE GARDEN/ MD)

WOLFBRIGADE "in darkness we feel no regrets" LP...$9 BRAND new release by Wolfbrigade. If you dont know who Wolfbrigade are by now... please punish yourself first... and then get this!!! Amazing Scandanavian HC!!! THE BEST!!!(FERAL WARD, US)

YANKEE WUSS s/t LP...$5.50 This band has been around for about 8 years here in Portland, in various forms. Chris (ATROCIOUS MADNESS, MIDNIGHT) and Dominic (DETESTATION, ATROCIOUS MADNESS) are two members that have been in the band since the beginning. Dyanne (HARUM-SCARUM) joined the band a few years ago, and this may be their final release unless a discography comes out at some point... as they are now broken up. Yankee Wuss play a unique style of hyper-punk, driving with surprise breaks and melodic and screaming male/ female vocals on side A. The B side has a different line-up, without Dyanne and so sound a bit different. But always, there are hyper punk parts, and mid-tempo parts. This is definitely worth picking up, as YW were a big part of the older Portland scene. (MINISTRY OF PEACE)

ZEROID LP $9... hailing from germany... THIS IS THE FIRST RELEASE ...zeriod features many of the members that formed Jeniger (had a release on skuld)... this is similar to that, only a bit more dynamic or epic... compare to URANUS or SYSTRAL ETC... ZEROID 10" $7... SECOND RELEASE BY ZERIOD.(UNOCIABLE/GERMANY)

QUEERWOLF/ SHARP KNIFE SPLIT LP $8.00 This split has been a while in the making, but the whole idea of it still seems like a fairytale. Chattanooga has given us some of the best melodic punk bands (JACK PALANCE BAND, FORCED VENGEANCE, MORONS, etc.) and we (SHARP KNIFE) fell in love with QUEER WULF after hearing their 7". We dreamed of doing split, then played one of our funnest shows with them in Chattanooga, and upon returning home, made the dream a reality. QUEER WULF offers seven new songs that are heavy on the Chattanooga sound, somewhere between CRIMPSHRINE and MINOR THREAT. SHARP KNIFE contributes six new songs which up to par with their album, though different. A split release with This Here Records .

POINT OF FEW - Silence 7" ... $2.00 The first US release from the Dutch thrash masters... all new unreleased songs that have that Dutch feel. Brings to mind modern Seein' Red mixed with modern youth crew styles. Powerful thrash. Description by Max 625. (625 Productions/USA)
FREAKS - 77 Points of Hate 7" ...$2 Four songs of blazing Tokyo hardcore. The guitars are in the red on this (with solos to boot) and the vocals are awesome. Reminds me of the very early Assfort stuff.... not too fast, but quick and energetic enough to maintain the intensity. Description by Max 625. (625 Productions/usa)
DOWN IN FLAMES - What The Fuck CD...$4 This is their best release to date by far. The songs fly by at 1000 mph, with quick time changes, screamed vocals and an occasional breakdown. They have really come into their own on this full length, showing that they can blaze through an LPs worth of material and leave your ears smoking. The CD contains a live set from CBGB's and fold out poster booklet. Description by Max 625. (625 Productions/USA)
YOUTH ENRAGE - Heyoca CD...$4 A follow to their amazing LP/CD of a few years ago. Insanely fast thrash from Sapporo, Japan; crazy time changes, out-of-control vocal styles... if you've heard em, you know what I'm talking about. This is even quirkier than their first release, utilizing unusual chords, and hints of melody at rapid fire pace. The CD also contains two CD-ROM videos of Youth Enrage live in action.
